This blog post tells the inspiring story of Ritu Bhatia, a designer with a passion for social transformation through education, and her work with I Light Global to empower migrant children in Panchrukhi, Himachal Pradesh.

From Art & Craft Designer to Changemaker:

Ritu, who works as an Art & Craft Designer at the Sobha Singh Art Gallery, has always felt a connection to education. It all began with a single act of kindness – reaching out to a child in need. This wasn’t just about one child; it was a spark that ignited a fire within Ritu. Recognizing this inherent passion, she took the initiative to educate migrant children in her own community. Her dedication soon caught the eye of Mrs. Rekha Dogra, who then introduced her to I Light Global, providing her with the platform to amplify her impact.

Joining the Mission: June 2022 and Beyond

Since June 2022, Ritu has been a driving force with I Light Global. She statred her work by starting the Koyal Branch. She is currently managing the Akash Project in her branch, she works with a dedicated group of around 14 migrant children. Her commitment goes beyond the classroom.

Transformative Travels: Opening Doors and Minds

Thanks to a travel fellowship sponsored by I Light Global, Ritu orchestrated educational visits for the children. From the historic Baijnath Temple to the vibrant Tulip Garden in Palampur, and the fascinating Bamboo Museum, another visit to an Art Museum in Tatehal, Panchrukhi, these trips sparked curiosity and broadened their horizons. For children whose parents are often away for daily wage work in other states, these experiences were truly enriching.

Challenges and Triumphs: Education Amidst Mobility

Ritu acknowledges the challenges faced by migrant children. The frequent movement of their families creates gaps in their education. However, her unwavering spirit and personalized tutoring sessions help bridge this gap and ensure continuous learning.

The Power of Giving Back: A Journey of Growth

Ritu’s dedication extends beyond just the children she teaches. Working with I Light Global has enriched her own life. She has connected with a global network of volunteers and leaders, all working towards the same goal.

A Ripple Effect: Positive Energy Through Education

Ritu’s story highlights the transformative power of education. By bridging the educational gaps faced by migrant children and providing enriching experiences, she not only equips them with knowledge, but also ignites a positive energy that will stay with them long after their journeys together.
